The €2.3 million investment in a new automated arranging and packaging line for CHOCO Napolitanke is part of Kraš’s broader investment cycle focused on improving production processes, increasing efficiency, and preserving product freshness. The line was developed and implemented in cooperation with a renowned German manufacturer of packaging equipment for the food and pharmaceutical industries, with the system optimised to meet the specific requirements of one of Kraš’s most recognisable products and a category leader in wafers.
“The new, modern, and modular CHOCO Napolitanke line ensures packaging that preserves product freshness and visual appearance while guaranteeing consistent and uniform quality. Thanks to the hermetically sealed packaging, CHOCO Napolitanke retain their structure and crispness, which is essential for the consumer experience,” said Ivan Kos, Kraš’s Management Board Member responsible for Production, Investments, and Maintenance.
This investment contributes to increased productivity and the optimisation of work processes, while operating the line is physically less demanding and primarily focused on process monitoring and management.
Alongside technological improvements, the company has also redesigned the packaging, and due to the specific requirements of the new packaging formats, product weights have been adjusted as well. The previous 500 g pack has been replaced with a 430 g version, while the 250 g pack is now available in a 215 g format. A new, smaller 108 g format has also been introduced, reflecting the trend toward practical and more accessible packaging. It is available in three new flavours - raspberry, orange, and cocoa and milk. The smaller pack sizes are accompanied by proportionally lower prices, meaning that the price per kilogram at Kraš’s retail locations remains the same as before and is even lower.
The project of preparing and implementing the automation of the CHOCO Napolitanke production line lasted two years, and Kraš continues to modernise its production processes.
